The Acorn Atom was a precursor to the more well-known and famous BBC Micro. At it's height, Acorn computers Ltd spun off a startup known as ARM (Advanced Risc Machines), stemming from a collaboration with Apple. ARM is a leader in microprocessor intellectual property .The Acorn brand has recently been revived in 2006.
